Overview
The IoT case study serves as the entry point for EDITS validation. Using a small-scale smart farm plant setup with IoT sensors, the team develops and tests the core Digital Twin pipeline — from data collection and physics-based model calibration to surrogate learning and forecasting — in a controlled environment before scaling to more complex systems.
The smart farm mockup integrates environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, soil moisture, light) with actuators, providing a complete IoT data pipeline that mirrors the challenges of larger Digital Twin deployments at a manageable scale.
